Safety Work Seminar for Farmers

Today, I am writing about a seminar I attended called “Safety Work Seminar for Farmers”, which was held by a local administrative organ.

It was free to participate, so anyone could attend it. Around 200 people came.

I will tell you the seminar details with a feedback.

My boss had suggested me to go there to learn about safety on farm work.

I got application form by hand. It said “Please send us the application form by FAX or post.”.

Recently, most of seminars are applied by e-mail or online, so I wondered whether my application have arrived or not.

I didn’t get any message from the organization.

I realized that to send a message to appliers is really important for them, otherwise they feel unsure of the event which they applied at that time.

At the end, I had to call the organization to ask if my sheet had arrived.

Seminar Details

These were the objectives of this seminar.

・Increasing farmer’s safety awareness of daily work.

・Preventing accidents
 

1. Fatal Accident facts of Daily Farming in Fukuoka, Japan.

There are over 300 cases of reported farm accidents in Japan annually.

least 10 of them happens in Fukuoka.

daily farming, I have noticed that the machinery is really dangerous and I understood that watching a number of fatal accidents would be important.

46% of them happened by handling tractors.

In fact, if you ride a tractor, you would realize a lot of blind spots, so you must pay attention to it even if you operate or not.

I watched the graph of all industries fatal accidents percentage there.

Whereas between 10 and 30% of the other industries fatal risk, 96.2% of Farming fatal risk.
 

2. Work Injury Insurance

According to Japanese law, the farm which has 5 or less workers doesn’t need to apply for Work injury insurance but those with more than 5 should.

There are 2 patterns of how to get the insurance although the other industries have just 1 pattern of it.
