Hello.

Thank you for visiting Agri Step.

The Japanese usually start to plant summer vegetables on open field this season.

I planted cucumbers, egg plants, chili peppers and green peppers.

I’ve never tried growing them so it’s going to be my big challenge.

What is the “Grafted Nursery Plant”

Graft is when the upper piece of the plant is put inside another plant and it grows from there.

People used to use hemp strings before the grafting tape was created.

You need some practice in order to be successful on the grafting.

Grafted nursery plants are resistant to repeated cultivation damage.

Field Diary -Summer Vegetable-

In the beginning, I watered the plants which I’ve already bought.

I soaked them like this.

By soaking them, it is going to be helpful to root in the field.

After that, I was careful to plant them on my field because it was heavy winded day.

Looks so weak.

I tied the nursery to prop.

By the way, I like using bamboos, because it is much more convenient on growing vegetables.

Japanese often used bamboo in their lives so it appears in Japanese fairly tales a lot.

After I’ve planted, I made a paper lantern.

Paper lantern use for

・Windy damage measures

・Heat insulation

Farmers make paper lanterns in this season so you’d see a lot of lanterna around my field.

In order to make the paper lantern, I used bamboo as well.

From now on, I will water them every day until it root strongly.
